Thanks for a great Drinking Water Week 2012!
BC Water & Waste Association would like to thank everyone who participated in Drinking Water Week 2012! Without the support of municipalities, organizations, and individuals throughout BC, the success of this week would not have been possible.
The week finished off with nearly 2500 entrants in the Community Water Challenge. One lucky participant received a 2-night stay plus dinner for two at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver, and a roundtrip for two on Helijet’s scheduled helicopter service between Victoria and Vancouver. We are thrilled at the response to the challenge, and that so many British Columbians have pledged to make simple but effective changes in their water use habits.
Throughout the week, many communities held watershed and treatment plant tours, open houses, information sessions, school presentations, and other community events to encourage residents to 'get to know their H2O.'
We are delighted that this important message has reached so many communities throughout the province, and we hope that the campaign has helped to create a lasting awareness of the value of our water.
Want to get involved in 2013?
Our goal is to bring awareness to even more communities next year! If you would like information on how to get involved with Drinking Water Week, please send us a message or contact Alana Tees at 604-630-5348.
